About this motorcycle event: The "Ride for a Reason" is an annual charity motorcycle event benefiting the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, a charity based in Taylor, Michigan, that offers specialized programs for blind and multi-disabled children. This event is the largest of its kind in southeast Michigan, attracting over 3,000 participants each year and occurring every summer.

Since the event's establishment, it has successfully raised over $1 million for the Penrickton Center, which has been operating since 1952. The center is notably the sole child-care agency in Michigan specialized in meeting the needs of blind children aged 1 to 12 who also suffer from complex medical conditions. The Penrickton Center not only provides daycare and residential care for up to five days but also offers evaluation and consultation services.

Motor City Harley-Davidson, located at 14100 Telegraph Road, plays a significant role as a major sponsor of the event. This dealership has a long history of supporting the Penrickton Center, underscoring its commitment to the community and the center's mission.

The charity ride typically starts at Cabela's in Dundee and takes participants on a scenic route through southeastern Michigan to Taylor. At the end of the ride, participants enjoy a BBQ feast and entertainment, enhancing the community and celebratory aspect of the event. According to Kurt Sebaly, the executive director of Penrickton, 100 percent of the proceeds from the ride go directly to the center, ensuring that the funds significantly support the crucial services provided to the children and their families.
